Passionately Coaching
Queer Do-Gooders

Dewey Schott, queer leadership and life coach

Are you queer and fabulous and dedicated to creating a sense of belonging with those around you?

Are you empathetic and sensitive? Are you deep as hell and silly as fuck? (I am all these things, too.) And—despite all your successes and beautiful attributes, do you sometimes struggle to see how powerful you really are? Do you sometimes over-identify with your pain in a way that holds you back? Do the crushing forces of oppression make you wonder why you even try? Even though belonging is one of your most important values and you stand for the belonging of others, do you often struggle to feel like you belong?

What I mean by Queer Do-Gooders

What brings me alive in my coaching work is supporting the brilliance of folks working for progressive social change. All my clients are striving to be in and nurture community experiences where everyone thrives, not just the privileged. I’m inspired by author Peter Block’s description of community as “the structure of belonging.” Whether my clients were practicing in community-based organizations, nightlife settings, public schools, healing centers, social enterprises, or movement spaces, they were all actively working to create a sense of belonging and struggling against divisiveness, alienation, toxicity, oppressive systems, selfishness, and burn-out. It’s my great privilege to champion their vision of liberated spaces full of belonging.

And my community of queers—lesbian, gay, bi, pansexual, questioning, fluid, trans, non-binary, intersex, and those that have yet to be named, acknowledged and accepted—deserve to be amplified, uplifted, and championed. It’s my great honor to do so.

LGBTQ leadership and life coaching

If this sounds like you and you’re needing an ally to partner with through whatever life transition you’re going through, let’s have a conversation. Through the coaching process you will learn to lead from your personal power and not from your pain.

I coach queer community builders on a variety of goals including:

  • Leading from your queer magic and not your pain

  • Nurturing supportive communities where everyone thrives, including yourself

  • Navigating conflict with empathy and fierce accountability vs. cancel culture

  • Holding onto joy and pleasure in a world that is unjust

  • Developing radical self-care and community care practices

  • Reducing harm for self and others in oppressive systems

Building community is hard—don’t do this alone.
